Volunteering Info

Team Members

Volunteer students will gain training in stratigraphic excavation, recording skills such as drawing, and finds processing. Students will be expected to work for 5.5 days per week. This means spending most of the day on site followed by pottery washing in the evening.

Tentative Season Dates for 2017

Students will arrive 19 May and stay until 17 June. The dates are subject to change until the plans are finalized.

Transportation

In past years, the team found it easiest to fly to Rome Fiumicino and then fly to Trapani or Palermo in Sicily. Alitalia  flies from both Trapani and Palermo to Pantelleria Airport (PNL).

AccommodationFra Mare e Lago

The team plans to stay at local dammusi, located on the shore of the Lago di Venere. Each week we will eat most dinners in the house: cooking a few dinners together, bringing in takeaway food a few nights, and having an independent evening in town.

This is the largest town on the island. It has a few restaurants, cafes, and gelato shops. Walking along the esplanade is a pleasant stroll.
